Due to its close proximity to the College of Education and the University of Applied Sciences Public Administration and Finance, the dormitory offers the optimal location for all students of Ludwigsburg's universities. Additionally, the dormitory is situated only 300 meters apart from the next train station, Favoritepark, which enables a perfect connection to the local public traffic and to the inner districts of Ludwigsburg. The next interchange to the freeway A81 is a 2 kilometers drive away from the dormitory which enables a good connection to the long-distance traffic via car, as well.

Embedded within the green belt of the city and due to its close proximity to the Favoritepark, the Haus Athena offers a perfect living place for all students who seek relaxation during more stressful periods of their studies. Several shops are situated close to the student dormitory, so that all most convenience goods can be bought comfortably close to the dormitory. Thus, the Haus Athena offers the perfect living conditions for all students of Ludwigsburg's universities.

Our Apartments

Renovated, fully furnished and directly ready for you to move in.

The Haus Athena Student Dormitory offers 236 modern and renovated rooms which are separated into three blocks. All rooms are already fully furnished so that you can move in directly and without any additional effort.
The basic equipment of all apartments consists of:

Most of our rooms are situated within 2-room apartments. All rooms within each apartment are separately lockable. Within each apartment, the rooms are connected via a common corridor to the main apartment door, the shower and the WC area. Each apartment contains its own washbasin. Some of our 2-room apartments contain a generous commonly used bathroom instead of a separated shower and WC area. The rooms of these apartments are separately lockable as well, however, the size and shape of the rooms differs from the other 2-room apartments. These 2-room apartments with a common bathroom consist of a shared vestibule which connects the two rooms with the bathroom and the main entrance of the apartment. Next to our 2-room apartments, the Haus Athena also contains some 1-room apartments as well. In these apartments, the room and the entrance corridor form one connected unit. Within the apartment, a small fridge for storing and cooling your groceries is available. The entrance to the bathroom with a shower, a WC and a washbasin is possible via the corridor. Regardless of a grand dinner or a small snack - our kitchens offer you the best equipment for all your cooking projects.

The Haus Athena Student Dormitory contains 15 large and fully equipped kitchens which are rented by up to ten tenants each. Each three kitchen rooms are connected to one bigger unit offering a shared vestibule with tables and chairs, which serves as commonly used dining rooms. Due to the modern equipment and the large proportions of the kitchen, cooking together with your room mates and friends in the dormitory is a joyful and pleasurable experience.

Our Rental Charges

Our rents are to be understood per month and per person or room, respectively. All inclusive utilities are already contained in the monthly rent.

Utilities

For the calculation of the utilities we differentiate between inclusive and exclusive utilities. While the inclusive utilities are already contained within your monthly rent, the exclusive utilities have to be paid separately by the tenants.

The following inclusive utilities are already fully contained within your monthly rent and do not need to be paid separately:

  • Property taxes
  • Waste fees
  • Internet fees
  • Power costs
  • Heating costs
  • Freshwater and wastewater
  • Groundskeeper fees

The following exclusive utilities are not contained within your monthly rent and have to be paid by the tenants separately:

  • Radio licence fee
  • Telephone costs

Deposit

At the time of your moving in you have to pay a deposit for your room and, in case you choose to rent a space in our kitchens, additionally for the kitchen. This deposit is refunded to you at the end of your stay in our student dormitory if you are not responsible for any permanent damage in your room or your kitchen, respectively. Please have a look at our General Rental Conditions (German only) for further details about the deposit and the refunding conditions.

Why are you called Haus Athena?

Athena belongs to the twelve Greek Olympioi. As the goddess of wisdom, she is the patroness of all scientists and scholars. As a dormitory for students, the Haus Athena combines the symbolic meaning of a protective shelter with the close proximity to Ludwigsburg's universities as places of science and scholarship.

Why is the symbol of the dormitory an owl?

Ever since Homer the goddess Athena was connected with the owl, possibly to indicate Athena's keen mind and wise foresight. Since then, the owl is inseparably connected with the Greek goddess and as such, the owl finds its place in the logo of our dormitory, as well.

How far away is the next train station?

The next train station "Favoritepark" is only 300 meters by foot from the Haus Athena. It takes you less than a few minutes to reach the station.

Which trains arrive at the station and how often?

The train station "Favoritepark" is connected to the train line S4 whose trains arrive and depart several times a day at the station. For further information, we refer to the train schedule which can be found at the web site of the Stuttgart public transit association.

Is it possible to park my car at the dormitory?

In the streets around the dormitory, there are a few public parking spots. If you want to reserve your own parking spot for a longer period of time, you have the option to rent one during your stay. The costs for renting the parking spot can be found at our Rental charge list.

Is there a space for parking my bike?

We have room for parking your bike in the Haus Athena. Further information will be given during the handover of your apartment.

At what time will you refund my deposit?

We will refund your deposit according to our General Rental Conditions and House Rules (German only) three months after the end of your contract.
